Workplace Safety Work Health Safety & Injury Management

The Work Health Safety and Injury Management team ensures Northern NSW Local Health District provides a safe and healthy workplace for all workers. Providing a safe work environment ensures NNSWLHD meet legislative obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 and other relevant legislation.

The WHSIM unit ensures the distribution and implementation of relevant policies and procedures to all facilities within NNSWLHD. Workplace safety includes hazard identification and control. Work Health Safety Injury Management Coordinators ensure adequate safe work practices are developed and adhered to. The WHSIM unit also provides ongoing training and education for employees.

The WHSIM unit will provide assistance, coaching and advice to the organisation on all safety matters. We also facilitate complex risk assessments and serious incident investigations. The WHSIM Unit promotes a positive safety culture within the workplace.

Workplace safety is everyone’s responsibility. All workers must take reasonable care for their safety, and the safety of others, in the workplace.
